Toyota recently unveiled a special TRD version of the all-new RAV4 at the Chicago Motor Show.
Unfortunately, there’s no increase in power. The 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol remains as is, with 132kW and 250Nm on tap. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
You do get an updated suspension, alloy wheels, tyres and some nifty design cues.
The TRD suspension has not been set up for racing, however. Toyota says in does indeed enhance body control, but that it’s also meant to absorb bumps better.
The RAV4 arrives in South Africa in March, but there’s no official word on the TRD version yet.
