Toyota working on a diesel V6 rival for the Ranger Raptor?

We don’t normally pay much attention to rumours and speculation, but when it comes to the possible future existence of a Toyota rival for the Ranger Raptor, we can make an exception.

New online rumours suggest that Toyota is hard at work on a Raptor rival. The first sign of this bakkie was Toyota’s application to trademark the “GR Hilux” nomenclature in Australia…

Now new rumours suggest that this supposed model will be powered by a high-power six-cylinder diesel powertrain, possibly from the all-new Land Cruiser 300.

We certainly hope there is some truth to these rumours because we know Ford and Volkswagen are working together on their next-generation bakkies.

A Ranger Raptor equipped with a Volkswagen V6 is a very real possibility, though it hasn’t been confirmed either.
