Volkswagen to introduce topless T-Roc

Nissan did it with the Murano and Land Rover did it with the Evoque. Now VW is chopping roof off of its newest SUV, the T Roc.

The T-Roc Cabriolet is a near production-ready concept, which will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The T-Roc Cabriolet has a classic soft top. Its standard fully automatic roof opens in just nine seconds. It can open and close even while the car is in motion, at speeds of up to 30 km/h. The soft top unlocks and locks electromechanically.

It will be powered by two petrol turbo engines with an output of 85kW and 110kW respectively. The manual six-speed gearbox comes as standard in conjunction with the 1.0 three-cylinder engine with an output of 85 kW; for the more powerful 1.5 four-cylinder engine with 110 kW. A seven-speed dual clutch gearbox will also available as an option.
