US magazine Motor Trends has just named their choice for “Car of the Year”, “SUV of the Year” and “Truck of the Year” (double cab).
The 2016 Motor Trend SUV of the Year is the Volvo XC90, which competed against the Honda Pilot, Lincoln MKX, Mercedes-Benz GLE / GLE Coupe and Nissan Murano. Although we understand why they picked the XC90, it’s a pity they didn’t throw the Audi Q7 into the mix. We have just pitted the Volvo XC90 against the Audi Q7 in our December magazine’s ‘Shoot out’ and it was the most difficult decision we’ve had to make in years. In the end it’s the Audi that edged its way onto our podium. Get a copy of our December issue and see exactly how we reached this conclusion.
Looking back at Motor Trend’s selection, they voted the Chevrolet Camaro as the Car of the Year. The car beat out the Audi TT, BMW 7-Series, Chevrolet Camaro, Honda Civic, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-AMG GT S and Toyota Mirai.
The Chevrolet Colorado was voted Truck of the Year over and above the Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Canyon, GMC Sierra, Nissan Titan XD and Toyota Tacoma.
