Volvo’s all-new XC60 has finally made its debut in South Africa, with almost
nothing left to prove.
You see, this handsome SUV has pretty much won every award that matters,
including World Car of the Year. The 98% it scored for adult occupancy during
the Euro NCAP testing is perhaps more important to our accident obsessed
market. In case you were wondering, no other car has ever scored that high,
making the XC60 the safest car in production today.
A host of safety features are included as standard, but we’ll delve deeper into
those once we get a test vehicle.
For now, we can tell you that it’s available with a choice of two diesel and two
petrol engines, all mated to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
Customers can choose from three trim levels: elegant Momentum, sporty R-
Design and the luxurious top-of-the-range Inscription. Volvo Cars’ award-
winning T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid is being considered for South
Africa, but there is no planned introduction date at this stage.
Pricing starts at R666 024 for the current entry-level XC60 D4 Geartronic AWD
Momentum to R782 036 for the XC60 D5 Geartronic AWD R-Design.
