We first glimpsed the Lamborghini Urus SUV two years ago, but the vehicle still hasn’t been approved for production, so it is looking increasingly unlikely that we’ll see it in the near future.
Despite early rumors that the Urus would be heading into production in 2017, the vehicle is still awaiting official approval.
Speaking to a company insider, Autocar has reported that, while Lamborghini still wants to eventually produce the Urus, it is currently worried about the precarious state of the global economy, as well as the continuing unrest in the Middle East.
The Urus will be competing at the very top-end of the SUV segment, so concern about the health of the world’s economy is understandable.
“We are convinced the Urus can significantly boost global sales, but the financial conditions need to be sound. Right now, there are signs we may be heading for a downturn in the markets due to various factors, including trouble in the Middle East, although this is not reflected in the current sales situation, which puts us ahead of 2013,” the insider told Autocar.
