The Toyota C-HR (Coupe High-Rider) has arrived in South Africa with three derivatives in the local line-up.
Each of these is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 85kW and 185Nm and the entry level C-HR and mid-range “Plus” variant are mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
The “Plus” derivative comes with extra features like foglamps, dual-zone climate control and cruise control, while the top model shares this trim level, but instead of a manual gearbox it comes with continuously variable transmission (CVT).
In some markets, a 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain (the same as that in the Prius) is also offered, as well as a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 106kW and mated to a CVT. For now there is no indication whether Toyota will bring either of these to South Africa at some point.
