As you might have noticed, the all-new Land Rover Defender recently made its public debut.
The expected pricing we have starts at around R850 000, which seems like a reasonable amount for what is expected to be a pukka 4×4.
Still, most of us will never be able to afford such a thing, but there is a way you can get a brand-new Defender, even before its actual scheduled debut sometime in 2020.
It won’t be a full-size Defender, however. We’re talking about the official Lego Technic Defender, which will be available globally from 1 October. We don’t have pricing for it, but chances are it will be a lot cheaper than the real deal.
It’s a 2 573 piece kit that features four-wheel drive, three differentials and a fully independent suspension. Lego also includes a winch and a fully operational gearbox with high and low gearing.
If you lift the hood, you can even see the six-cylinder engine with pistons that move up and down.
The Lego Defender is now available at Lego’s online store for a relatively affordable R2999.
