Camp site review: Nature’s view in Citrusdal

by Leisure Wheels

7 May 2020

Nature’s view is a campsite situated in the Citrusdal valley, between the orange orchards and mountainous terrain. It is a great getaway from the city with a peacefulness that only this kind of country setting can offer.

Natures’s view offers two kinds of vistas. From the front of the property you look down on the valley, which is covered in orange orchards and the Olifants River that trickles past peacefully and that has never run dry. Behind the property is the mountainous area where you are greeted with formations that are asking to be climbed and played on. For the more adventurous there are hiking routes between the rocks and the higher you go, the better the view gets. The routes are well marked with different coloured markers. Some parts are however very steep.

After a hour or two climbing between the rocks, you can cool off in the swimming pool, or you can walk all the way down to the river where you can frolic in the cool river water while taking in the beautiful view of the Cederburg.

There are beautiful trees too relax under and well kept lawns and the campsites are nice and level. They are large and are all equipped with power points and taps. A nice large braai drum is provided on each site.

The ablution facilities are large with enough showers and toilets for the entire camping site. They are clean with a rustic theme that fits with the environment.

There is a fully equipped bar where you can get something to quench the thirst while you sit around the braaivleis fire. The alternative is to enjoy a cold one by the swimming pool or a sundowner along with the view of the valley. It is dubbed the Graveyard Pub.

Nature’s view has one log cabin that is rented as a self-catering unit. It sleeps two people and has its own kitchen.

Other facilities include a rock pool, volleyball net and kayak rental ensuring that there is something for the whole family to do, young and old.
