Volkswagen has released a sketch of the new Touareg ahead of the vehicle’s world premiere in Beijing on 23 March 2018.
According to the manufacturer’s announcement, the company intends the new Touareg to be the brand’s flagship SUV with regards to design and technology.
The Touareg will sport one of the ‘largest digital cockpits in its class’, opening up a new type of infotainment environment with the car’s connectivity causing the SUV to function as a ‘driving internet node’.
The third-generation Touareg will ride on Volkswagen’s MLB Evo platform like the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus.
No details about the Touareg drive train have been released yet but there are rumours that the range-topping variant that would use an Audi-sourced 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder.
VW says that the ‘drive train, air suspension, rear-wheel steering and roll stabilisation all ensure a safe and dynamic driving experience.’
