December 2018 Issue

Our Isuzu Great Adventure Series is in full swing and there’s another eight pages of action from families battling to be South Africa’s greatest adventurers.
Speaking of adventurers, ever fancied a pint at your favourite pub but been put off by the thought of having to drive there? Well, Ben Coombs was keen to have a drink at the most northerly pub in the world… and then drive to its most southerly equivalent.

You can read about how he got on, and when you’re finished, about how Magda, the wife of a tour guide, handled lost luggage, hotel upgrades and travelling to Tanzania.

There’s also a look at how a Subaru Forester got on in the Karoo and how ONCA 4×4 products ‘adapted’ a Toyota Hilux.

Our regulars are all present, with our Buying Used section looking at three-pot crossovers and our Tech section looking at winches. The list of cars we’ve tested in our Fuel for Thought section is growing; this month we look at two crossovers and two bakkies.

Our Gear sections this month focus on next-generation military vehicles and survival kits while our Voetspore and Kingsley Holgate columns bookend an interesting interview with a racer you may have heard of: Giniel de Villiers.

We depart from our usual trail review and focus instead on a campsite review, this month Buffelspoort in the North West.
