April 2020 Issue

We’ve featured plenty of pieces about visits to local vehicle-manufacturing plants but this was the first time we’ve been asked to actually work on the production line. Don’t worry, the safety and standards at Ford’s Struandale plant ensured there won’t be any dodgy engines coming out of there any time soon.

Fifty years ago, a race took place on the Baja Peninsula between a Ford Bronco and…. a Boot. But not just any Boot, mind you. This is one seriously impressive vehicle. Who won the rematch race? Read one to find out.

Speaking of impressive vehicles, the TX4 sounds a bit like another Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, but this is no movie. The TX 4 is an off-roader fit for Brazil. If only we could get it here.

In another feature, we sent Nick Yell and Annette Theron to explore the southern Overberg region on their motorbikes in a piece entitled South of Cape Point.
We then went in search of the lost tribe of Geluksburg? Why well, we had a Renault Triber and, well, do we really need to spell it out for you? Triber…. Lost tribes. Oh you get it.

As usual, we bring you a couple of tests. This month, we take a look at the BMW X4 M Competition and the Range Rover Sport PHEV.

Kingsley and Voetspore remain, as does our Adventurer Interview which this month features Taye Perry. If you haven’t heard of her, you obviously don’t follow the Dakar Rally too closely because this young motorcyclist was making waves.

As usual, we’ve got Campsite Review, Photo Focus, Gear and Tech.
