July 2020 Issue

It can be a tough job putting a motoring/leisure magazine together during lockdown, not that you’d know it by looking at Leisure Wheels. We’ve gone out of our way to ensure standards haven’t slipped and we reckon we’ve done a pretty good job.

Our features are what really draws the eye and we have some good ones this month. I would argue that the greatest article we’ve ever featured is the piece written about the Volunteer Wildfire Firefighters but then again, that may just be because I wrote it. Nevertheless, the photography that accompanies this piece is absolutely incredible and well worth a look.

We also feature a piece focussing on a traipse across the Arctic Circle, in a vehicle that can both conquer the toughest 4×4 terrain, and float and we take a drive to Val near Joburg in the Land Rover Discovery Sport and, explore the West Coast National Park.

We drive the new Nissan Patrol, and test the Mahindra Scorpio and Kia Seltos. Perhaps your only clue to the lockdown chaos is our handy piece on ‘Buying Down’ where we explore your options if your financial situation has you in a pickle, needing to trade down.

Trygve Roberts continues his Mountain Pass review, this time looking at Sani Pass, while our Adventurer Interview is back after a month’s break. Kingsley and Voetspore continue.

Gear, Tech and Retro Drive are always worth a read.
